Signs you need this

Does this sound familiar?

  • You're choosing between Microsoft Fabric, Databricks, Snowflake or a lighter stack and want a view from someone with nothing to sell.
  • Your lakehouse or medallion layers grew ad hoc and people don't trust the numbers.
  • Reports disagree because teams define the same metric differently.
  • Fabric capacity costs are rising and it isn't clear which workloads drive them.
  • You need architecture leadership but can't justify a full-time head of data.

What this means commercially: a platform decision you won't need to reverse, a build your team or partner can execute against, and capacity costs that are planned rather than discovered.

Practitioner-led. AurVald's founder designed and built a multi-domain Microsoft Fabric medallion platform serving nine business functions — the patterns we recommend are patterns we have delivered.

What we do

Data & Microsoft Fabric Architecture services

Platform selection

An independent comparison against your data, skills, security and cost constraints — with the rejected options documented.

Microsoft Fabric architecture

Workspaces, lakehouse and warehouse design, security and capacity planning.

Medallion design

Bronze, silver and gold layers with clear contracts, so each layer has one job.

Modelling & governance

Semantic models, ownership, data quality and definitions the business agrees on.

Integration

Patterns for getting data in from operational systems reliably and cheaply.

Design authority & roadmap

A reference architecture, decision log and phased roadmap that a team or partner can build against.

How to start

Two ways to engage.

1

Data Platform Review — 2 weeks · Fixed fee, agreed before we start

A fixed-scope Rapid Review focused on this area. You receive:

  • Current-state assessment of your platform and data flows
  • One-page target reference architecture
  • Top risks, quick wins and dependencies
  • A 90-day roadmap and a leadership read-out
2

Design authority — monthly retainer

AurVald holds the architecture while your team or our London delivery partner builds: weekly decisions, change review and sign-off at each stage gate.

Questions

Frequently asked

Do you only work with Microsoft Fabric?

No. We know Fabric well, but platform selection is independent: if Databricks, Snowflake or a simpler stack fits better, that's what we'll recommend.

Can you also build it?

Yes — through our London-based delivery partner, with AurVald as design authority. Or we can oversee your in-house team or an existing partner.

We already have a platform. Is it too late?

No. Many reviews are of platforms already in production: we identify what to keep, what to fix first, and what it is costing you to leave as is.

How do you keep Fabric costs predictable?

By planning capacity from the workloads up and separating them where needed, and by bringing FinOps practice into the design rather than after go-live.
